The Easy Choice for Heating and AC in Plano
Sweltering summer days and chilly winter nights test your Plano HVAC system. That’s why Colony is your trusted HVAC service for life, here to keep it in check.
Plano’s Trusted HVAC Service Since 1977
Plano is a wonderful place to live and work, being part of the DFW Metroplex and surrounded by the natural beauty of places like Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve, as well as Lavon Lake. However, the weather can really put residents through a lot, making quality cooling and heating services essential.
According to the National Weather Service, the average high temperature exceeds 90°F for three months straight in the summer, and temperatures in the 80s are common well into September and October. Then November through February brings cold fronts with temperatures below freezing, making your once warm home very cold all of a sudden.
If you’ve been having trouble with your air conditioner or need a new furnace installed, Colony Air Conditioning & Heating should be your first choice in Plano. With decades of experience and many happy customers to our credit, you’ll be in good hands.
Get to Know Colony
The Colony name is well-established as a leader in Plano HVAC services. Since our start in 1977, we've built a solid reputation one job at a time. At its core, Colony is a family operation started with founder and owner Larry Everett, soon joined by his wife Kathy, and later their two sons. Larry's vision was tied to quality performance that always exceeded expectations. That's how he approached each job in the late 70s, and decades later, nothing about that vision has changed.
Five Reasons to Choose Colony for Your Plano HVAC Projects
It's not easy to choose the right HVAC service provider for your needs. We encourage you to look at these five points as reasons to call us first:
- Always Honest: you'll get the real story from our technicians every time; we won't upsell equipment or services you don't need.
- Community Support: we're proud to live and work in Plano, supporting causes like the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and Toys for Tots.
- Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer: we work hard to meet Carrier's strict standards for technical training and installation expertise, which also comes with enhanced warranty options for you.
- Hall of Famer: owner Larry Everett was inducted into the Carrier Hall of Fame in 2017, one of only four contractors inducted nationally that year.
- Quality Workmanship: we never cut corners to get a system running faster; the job is only done when our own high standards are met.
Plano Heating Services
For all the attention that is paid to AC in Plano, heating during the winter months is nearly as important. We might not face piles of snow in the Dallas area, but winter mornings can be frigid just the same. Even a brisk stroll through Oak Point Park can leave you ready to curl up in some blankets when you get home. A good furnace will make sure your house is warm all day and night, no matter the conditions outside.
Furnace Maintenance
With proper maintenance, you can potentially extend the life of your Plano furnace from 10-15 years to as long as 20 years. Regularly scheduled furnace tune-ups let Colony technicians catch and repair small issues before they escalate into breakdowns.

Consider AC ReplacementDuctless Mini-Split Services

Go DuctlessCommon HVAC Problems in Plano
No one knows Plano weather quite like the locals. That’s why we work year-round to keep your home at the perfect temperature and fight back against common problems we see.
Older Plano Homes in the Texas Heat
Your AC’s limits are tested by temperatures that are in the 80s or above for nearly half the year. These long run times wear out electrical parts fast and can suddenly leave you without air. We especially see this in older East Plano homes whose original breaker switches struggle to keep up with the heat.
Heating Systems Struggle in Low Insulation Homes
Construction codes change over time, leaving some older houses behind. In Plano, older homes typically have much less insulation than newer homes. This means furnaces work overtime to heat your home in the winter and burn out early.
Dust Mites in Your Home
Plano’s high humidity often supports dust mite growth. They don’t just go away with regular cleaning since your HVAC system recirculates them. This leaves Plano residents with itchy eyes, nasal congestion, and respiratory issues.
Plano Air Quality Services
Indoor air quality plays an important role in health. If there are signs of poor indoor air quality, like dusty surfaces or persistent coughs, connect with Colony. Improving your air filter could be a helpful first step, or if your air feels constantly too dry, a whole-house humidifier can bring moisture levels into a healthy range. We also offer air purifiers, carbon monoxide detectors, and electronic air cleaners.

prompt friendly service
Excellent service! Our service tech, David was very honest, trustworthy and helpful! He helped us solve our AC issue at a fraction of the price other companies were telling us it would be. The AC is working perfectly and we now will only work with this company. Very impressed with David and the entire company!
Tony is great!
We are in our 3rd year with Colony A/C and are still amazed that every employee who has been here has been outstanding. The A/C units were old when we bought the house but they kept them running efficiently and gave us a good analysis of what parts might need to be replaced, and how much longer they would last. When we were ready to replace, they offered packages to fit any budget and explained the differences in easy to understand language so we could choose the one that best fit our expectations. What we like best is that it is family owned and operated and that they are good and honest people who offer fair pricing and quality products. They have long time employees who are equally committed to their values. We couldn't be more pleased, and recommend them highly. You will not be disappointed.
Rene was nice and friendly. Very professional. Above and beyond in his work.
Tony was awesome! Just had maintenance on AC unit, tony was very knowledgeable and efficient. Love that this company has integrity and skilled technicians.
Rene came in and explained what he was doing and then he found a couple of items that needed to be done on the outside and explained what and how much and we told him to go ahead and fix it. In thelong run it saved us a service call later and we also have a service contract with you all. He was done in less than an hour and he was very nice.
Great service.
