October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Early Detection is the Best Protection
It's recommended that women at the age of 40 begin annual mammograms. These initial mammograms become a baseline for comparison in later tests.
I can't begin to express how important this simple test is. Controlling the disease or eradicating it altogether is so much easier and less invasive if it's caught early. That's why it's so important to perform monthly breast self exams (BSE). Don't wait for your yearly gyn visit. Do it today!
BSE's are quick, easy, and painless. Throughout my cancer experience, I was amazed at the number of women who had breast cancer or who knew someone who had breast cancer. It seemed like it was everywhere. But, that still didn't make it any easier to accept. Breast cancer can affect any woman.

Informative Website
For more information on breast cancer, I like the website www.breastcancer.org. It contains information presented in plain understandable terms and also offers online Ask-The-Expert conferences on various breast cancer issues including new medicines and therapies.
